Here’s How Willem Dafoe Could Look As Red Goblin In Spider-Man: No Way Home

There's no doubt that Spider-Man: No Way Home is one of the hotly anticipated MCU films on the horizon. Some would argue, in fact, that Tom Holland's third solo outing as the titular Peter Parker has managed to generate more buzz than other concurrent projects like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness or Eternals.

What fan the flames of speculation and debate even further are all the rumors circulating online about the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their respective versions of Spider-Man. While Marvel has yet to confirm any of this, as they’re likely to keep these big reveals for the marketing campaign or even the movie’s premiere, it’s pretty much confirmed that the pic will somehow incorporate multiverse elements like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

The most obvious indication of this is the return of Doctor Strange as a supporting character, not to mention that other infamous villains like Alfred Molina’s Otto Octavius (from 2004’s Spider-Man 2) and Jamie Foxx’s Max Dillon (from 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2) are making a comeback as well.

Now, another prominent hearsay seems to suggest that not only will Willem Dafoe reprise his role as Green Goblin, but he’ll also serve as the story’s main antagonist. As you can see below, fans certainly seem to welcome that possibility, even going so far as to imagine him in new artwork that depicts the actor as Red Goblin.

As far as subtle fan edits go, this new work certainly leaves much to be desired. Still, it works just well enough for us to contemplate how epic it’d be if Marvel actually asked Dafoe back. I mean, if nothing else, even the mere gravitas of an actor of his aptitude would overwhelm all the others.
