After it was announced that Nico Parker – known for her role as Sarah Miller in HBO’s The Last of Us –  will be playing Astrid in the upcoming fantasy, some fans are preparing themselves to ensure that this young actress doesn’t get cyber-bullied by those who aren’t keen to see this DreamWorks classic get adapted.

Some people weren’t happy when this young actress played Sarah, who was originally depicted as a young girl with blonde hair in the games. So when it was announced that Parker was going to be in How to Train Your Dragon, people started to point out the young actress’ skin color and how DreamWorks plans to “race swap” its leading characters. Fans defended Parker, claiming that it doesn’t matter what her skin color is, she’s perfect for the role regardless.

Joining Parker in How to Train Your Dragon is Walker‘s Mason Thames as Hiccup. In the 2010 original, America Ferrera played the young female Viking, who was chieftess of the Hooligan Tribe by the end of the threequel.

As of writing, only two characters have been cast in the live-action do-over that’s scheduled to come out in 2025, but there’s plenty more to come.
