Deadpool 3 is now before the cameras, with the shoot having begun in London in late May under the working title Tidal Wave. Hype levels are off the charts for the Merc with the Mouth’s long-awaited return, which will also be his MCU debut. We’d be excited if that were all we knew, but Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine being along for the ride has instantly propelled this to one of the most anticipated upcoming superhero movies.
Jackman clearly knows fans are buzzing about him strapping on the claws for one last (?) adventure, and all it’s taken for him to stoke social media into a white-hot tizzy are three simple letters and a picture of his grizzled Logan look:
If you’re curious as to what “LFG” stands for it’s very simple: “Let’s F**king Go”.
Right now, we don’t know exactly how this story is going to play out, although indications are that it’s going to see Deadpool and Wolverine as a very unhappy odd couple. Jackman has described their relationship as “opposites” with a “quarreling dynamic”, with Wade Wilson’s antics a near-constant frustration to Logan. Inevitably, the two are going to face off at some point, but with both possessing a powerful healing factor, we’re betting on a bloody stalemate seeing as neither can kill the other.
Also notable is that we don’t officially know the movie’s title. It may well end up simply being Deadpool 3, though in interviews Reynolds has referred to it as “The Deadpool/Wolverine Movie” and Jackman has called it “Wolverine and Deadpool”, so we suspect Marvel will somehow squeeze Jackman’s character into the title.
Sadly, the Nov. 24 release date is still some way away, though we’re hopeful for a teaser trailer later this year. However it pans out, we’re eager to see how this unlikely pair will slot into the existing MCU. Could Jackman’s Wolverine stick around to guide the MCU’s new mutants? At this point, anything seems possible.
