Whether we like it or not, Hugh Jackman’s tenure as Wolverine is coming to an end in 2017 with the character’s third solo outing. While rumours point to him first showing up in next year’s Deadpool movie and X-Men: Apocalypse, Jackman’s time as Wolverine is clearly limited, and he’s already looking back on the role with fond memories.
After being asked in the video above about his favourite moment as the iconic X-Men character, Jackman surprisingly doesn’t choose a big action scene or one of the moments recreated from the comic books, but instead points to Wolverine’s foul-mouthed cameo in X-Men: First Class. It’s easy to understand why, to be fair, as it was a great surprise for fans and as Jackman says, it sums the character up perfectly.
[zergpaid]The actor also went on to jokingly reveal what advice he’d offer whoever ends up taking over the role from him:
“Start training six months out. I got the part literally as they were filming. Bryan Singer said, ‘How long do you need to get into shape?’ ‘Three weeks?’ If you look at the film carefully there’s quite a transformation.”
Whether or not Fox will recast the role or leave Wolverine on the shelf for a few years following Jackman’s departure as Wolverine remains to be seen, but if there’s one thing that’s for sure, it’s that he’s going to leave a huge void in their X-Men universe.
