‘I’m still trying to figure out why I’ve never been to Wakanda’: Samuel L. Jackson knows exactly where he wants Nick Fury to go next

Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury has been the backbone of the MCU ever since he strolled into Tony Stark’s house in the final seconds of Iron Man. Since then, the character has been a big player in getting us to where we are today, either as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. or working behind the scenes with his extensive network of contacts.

More recently, Fury has been taking a keen interest in all things intergalactic and is about to take center stage in Disney Plus show Secret Invasion, before playing a major role in The Marvels later in the year. But in all that time there’s one key MCU location he’s yet to visit, and Jackson wants Kevin Feige to book Fury a trip:

Speaking with ET at the Secret Invasion premiere Jackson said:

“If I had it my way, I would’ve been in every Marvel movie ’cause I mean he is Nick Fury, he knows everything that’s going on. I’m still trying to figure out why I’ve never been to Wakanda. They didn’t ask me to go, but I’m still trying to get there. I need a ticket.”

After 15 years of Nick Fury, Jackson joked that it “feels like I’ve been playing him forever”, but he doesn’t seem in a rush to leave the role anytime soon. We don’t want to see him go anywhere either, as whenever he appears he’s reliably one of the best things in the movie.

So, if and when Marvel Studios begins production on Black Panther 3 we hope there’s room for Fury to tag along. It’d be particularly interesting to see how his secretive nature matches the strong Wakandan security services, as we suspect the Dora Milaje would have extensive files on him and a grudging respect for his combat and espionage skills.

But before all that Fury looks to be put through the wringer as he uncovers what’s really going on in Secret Invasion. That’s due to premiere on Disney Plus on June 23 and all indications are it’s one of the best MCU shows to date. But with Jackson in a starring role, is that really such a big surprise?
