The Inhumans Movie Was Supposed To Have Come Out Today And Fans Remember

Marvel Studio's Inhumans movie was supposed to have been released today. But would it have been better than the dreadful TV show?

In an alternative timeline, audiences are sitting down to catch their first glimpse of the Fall’s hotly anticipated MCU release: InhumansSadly, in this worst of all timelines we are not.

When Marvel first announced their slate of 2018 and 2019 movies, Inhumans was given a November 2nd, 2018 release date. But as we all know, those plans never came to fruition. What eventually transpired was an ABC TV show that’s regarded as perhaps the only genuine disaster in the MCU.

Perhaps if they’d have stuck to their guns and kept it as a movie things could’ve been better. After all, there’s a lot more riding on a film and if Kevin Feige had realized things were going badly there’s a chance the studio would have stepped in for a bit of course correction. Instead, there was a sense that Marvel Studios realized that the show was going nowhere, but had a bit too much on their plate at the time to fix it. Given how it sunk without a trace and disappeared from the public consciousness almost immediately, that might’ve been the right call.

It is a bit of a shame, though, as some of the Inhumans are genuinely interesting in Marvel Comics. The obvious star of the show is Black Bolt, whose voice is so incredibly powerful he has to remain mute as even the slightest whisper destroys all around him. Granted, the way the show realized that was pretty damn goofy, but I’m sure a movie version could have improved upon it. If you’ve read the World War Hulk series, you’ll know just how cool he can be when he’s given license to really let loose.

But I doubt that Marvel Studios are going to be in a hurry to head back to Inhumans. Its destiny seems to be to have it swept under the rug with as little fuss as possible and pretend it never happened. And you know what, that’s probably for the best.
