Disney and Pixar Animation have premiered our first look at Inner Workings – and not a moment too soon.
Set to screen before Ron Clements and John Musker’s Moana from tomorrow, November 23, the quirky short delves deep into an internal struggle – quite literally – where the heart, brain and lungs of an Average Joe tussle with one another in a bid to exert control on his life.
Hatched by Leo Matsuda (Big Hero 6, Wreck-It Ralph), Inner Workings is like a more physical spin on Inside Out, instead introducing viewers to the anthropomorphic versions of our vital organs, rather than the living incarnations of Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger and Disgust. Even after such a teasing trailer, Matsuda’s passion project piques our curiosity with its whimsical set-up, and should act as the near-perfect appetizer for the maritime adventure that awaits in Moana.
Expect Inner Workings to light up the silver screen from tomorrow, November 23. It’ll act as a delightful primer to the main event – par of the course for Pixar Animation – and you can check out our thoughts on Moana via Matt Donato’s glowing review.
A new short from first-time director Leo Matsuda (story artist for “Big Hero 6,” “Wreck-It Ralph”) is the story of the internal struggle between a man’s pragmatic, logical side and his free-spirited, adventurous half. Created by a small team at Walt Disney Animation Studios in a unique, fast-paced style that blends CG and traditional hand-drawn animation, the short explores the importance of finding balance in daily life. “Inner Workings” opens on 2nd December, 2016 in front of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Moana.”
