Here at We Got This Covered, we’re big fans of the horrifically creepy universe that James Wan and Leigh Whannell have established with Insidious and Insidious: Chapter 2. And so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that we’re looking very much forward to seeing how the franchise does with Whannell stepping up to make his directorial debut on, as well as again script, Insidious: Chapter 3.
Today brings word that the terrifying threequel has begun production in Los Angeles, as well as the above image showcasing the film’s blend of fresh and familiar faces. Insidious: Chapter 3 stars Dermot Mulroney (August: Osage County, NBC’s Crisis) and Stefanie Scott (Disney’s A.N.T. Farm, Blumhouse’s upcoming Jem and the Holograms) alongside returning stars Lin Shaye, Angus Sampson and Whannell.
According to the official press release:
In Insidious: Chapter 3, a twisted new tale of terror begins for a teenage girl and her family, predating the haunting of the Lambert family in the earlier movies and revealing more mysteries of the otherworldly realm The Further.
It’s intriguing to learn that Chapter 3 is in fact set before the previous two installments. It looks like we’ll finally get to see where Elise gained her expertise with the Further. Unfortunately, that news doesn’t bode too well for Mulroney and Scott’s protagonists.
Insidious: Chapter 3 opens on May 29th, 2o15.
