Even though she was killed off in Avengers: Endgame before finally being rewarded with that long-awaited solo movie to draw a line under her decade-long tenure as Natasha Romanoff, Scarlett Johansson has repeatedly ruled out walking the road so many before her have traveled by making a mockery of death and returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
However, while her on-camera days may be numbered, the actress still has skin in the game with Kevin Feige’s outfit. A while back, the company’s chief creative officer revealed that Johansson would be producing a Marvel project, but that was frustratingly all the information the baseball cap-wearing head honcho of the entire operation was willing to divulge.
We don’t know if it’s a feature film, Disney Plus series, Special Presentation, documentary, or any of the other plates Marvel spins in the air at any one given time, but thanks to Johansson’s recent interview with ComicBook, we do at least know that it hasn’t been quietly swept under the rug.
“It is still happening. Yes. It is still happening, [but] not currently because nothing is happening right now. We’re all sort of in this holding pattern as we wait out the writers’ strike and potentially our own guild strike, and so on and so forth.”
That’s about as vague as we’ve come to expect from somebody with such deep ties to the MCU, but whatever it is and whenever it ends up gaining serious traction behind the scenes, we can confirm that Scarlett Johansson is producing… something… for the saga she called home for 10 years and change.
