Stephen King’s ancient, primordial entity was first introduced to moviegoers via It back in September, and it didn’t take long before Pennywise was reinstated as a bona fide horror icon, launching a thousand nightmares of red balloons and otherworldly clowns in the process.

By all accounts, New Line and director Andy Muschietti knocked it out of the park with their big-screen adaptation, but when it comes to Pennywise, in particular, we have Bill Skarsgård to thank for his, ahem, scenery-chewing, unforgettable performance. The Swede has been fairly forthcoming about his approach to the King classic, and thanks to the film’s soon-to-be-released Blu-ray, a new It featurette brings us closer to Skarsgård’s on-screen monster – the Eater of Worlds.

Here’s a recap of those bonus features to be included in the inevitable It Blu-ray:

  • “Pennywise Lives!” – Discover how Bill Skarsgård prepared to portray the primordial creature known as Pennywise the Dancing Clown
  • “The Losers’ Club” – Get up close and personal with the teenage stars of IT as they bond together during the production
  • “Author of Fear” – Stephen King reveals the roots of his best-selling novel, the nature of childhood fear, and how he created his most famous monster, Pennywise
  • “Deleted Scenes” – Eleven deleted or extended scenes from the film

Unleashing Pennywise upon the hapless folks of Derry, Maine is merely the first chapter in a two-part story, as New Line and the Muschiettis – namely Andy and Barbara – are hard at work drafting It: Chapter Two. And yes, it’ll feature the infamous fire at the Black Spot in 2019.

However, closer to home, it looks like the It Blu-ray has been worth the wait, as many of the deleted/extended scenes bring us closer to the Losers Club – undoubtedly the beating heart of New Line’s adaptation. Look for it to launch on January 9th, 2018 (PRE-ORDER HERE).
