A collective shiver has run down the spine of the entire superhero fandom after word began filtering round the internet that the single most hotly-anticipated comic book adaptation since Avengers: Endgame could be in trouble. Despite its potential to dislodge Avatar as the highest-grossing movie of all-time and win countless Academy Awards, El Muerto is in danger of sinking.
To be honest, it’s not completely out of the blue when Sony has yet to shift the Spider-Man spin-off’s release date from January of next year, despite the fact cameras are nowhere near close to rolling. In a recent interview, star Bad Bunny’s publicist admitted that the project was “at a standstill,” and couldn’t even offer a vague answer as to when things would begin picking up steam.
Naturally, everyone has been left crushed and beyond despair at the harrowing announcement, confirming that the bubble may well be in danger of bursting for real this time after not even the mighty El Muerto proved immune from the grind of Hollywood machinations.
Of course, we’re all expecting Bad Bunny to follow in Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker footsteps and win an Oscar for Best Actor whenever the film does eventually see the light of day, but we could be waiting a while. Folks can rag on the Multiverse Saga all they want as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues its slow and steady decline, but El Muerto was supposed to be a shining beacon of light at the end of an increasingly dark and dingy tunnel.
