Over the years, Marvel has managed to adapt a wide variety of their properties for both the big and small screen, including relatively obscure characters such as Doctor Strange and the Guardians of the Galaxy. However, one of their more popular second-tier heroes (well, anti-heroes) has yet to get his chance in the spotlight: Marc Spector, AKA Moon Knight.
Though there’ve been whispers of a Moon Knight Netflix TV series for a while now, we still haven’t heard anything official from Marvel on the matter, and therefore have to assume that there are no current plans for a live-action incarnation of the lunar-enhanced vigilante. Of course, that hasn’t stopped fans from desperately wanting to see it, and it just so happens that Spector counts one particular fan that has the ear of the studio bigwigs.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn was asked on Twitter about the chances of seeing Moon Knight become a member of his team of intergalactic A-holes, and while that’s definitely not in the cards, Gunn did reveal that he’s already told Marvel about his idea for a Moon Knight movie.
Oh my God I love Moon Knight & I have a great idea for a movie, I just wish I had the time (but, no, he doesn’t belong in Guardians). https://t.co/ARJCPh62gt

So, it doesn’t sound like Gunn will be pursuing the idea any further, but now that the studio’s aware of his passion for Moon Knight, perhaps they’ll take steps to get something into production sooner rather than later? After all, one would assume that at the rate Marvel is burning through their characters, they’re going to have to get to Mr. Spector eventually, right?
