Wherever James Gunn goes, Grace Randolph typically isn’t lurking too far behind, with the co-CEO of DC Studios and the host of YouTube series Beyond the Trailer making the most unlikely of arch-enemies.
It isn’t even of an ironically wholesome nature like ongoing beef between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, either, with the diametric opposites rarely missing out on the opportunity to throw subtle shade at the other. True to form, then, Randolph has taken aim at the outpouring of celebrity endorsements coming out in support of The Flash.
As well as Gunn and Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav touting Andy Muschietti’s long-awaited comic book adaptation as one of the genre’s best-ever examples, such disparate but equally famed personalities as Tom Cruise and Stephen King have weighed in with their positive feedback.
Needless to say, Randolph is waiting for things to get even more out of hand after a meme touting the man upstairs as its next vocal proponent captured her attention.
The best possible outcome is for everyone to end up eating their words on this one, even though there’s a bizarre number of people out there hoping The Flash will crash and burn.
It’s largely due to a combination of frustration that Gunn isn’t Zack Snyder and the promises the multiversal adventure will essentially consign the SnyderVerse to the scrapheap forevermore, but we can only hope it genuinely manages to live up to the sky-high expectations that keep adding more and more pressure to a project that was already under enough to begin with.
