It’s time to cape up and grab your laptops because James Gunn‘s Clark Kent and Lois Lane have been announced, and fans are both surprised and excited at the big reveal for Superman: Legacy.
Okay, maybe surprised isn’t the word as far as Kent is concerned, but we’re still thrilled to learn that the rumors we’d been hearing were rooted in truth. Deadline reports that Superman: Legacy will be led by none other than David Corenswet as Kent alongside Rachel Brosnahan starring as his love interest and partner, Lois Lane.
So yes, those who have been waiting with bated breath to hear if Corenswet would soon sweep us off of our feet as the dashing, charming, and vulnerable hero can rejoice. Just look at those baby blues, that jawline, and the power in his stare. Superman as a hero is someone easy to root for; he believes in justice and truth — he’s a powerhouse, and Corenswet fits the bill.
Gunn is holding his cards close to his chest as far as what the film’s synopsis will be, but we do know that it isn’t set up as an origin story, as Gunn confirmed while talking about Gods and Monsters. A brief outline for the film reads as follows:
“It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old-fashioned.”
The embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way; it doesn’t get more Superman than that — there’s nothing more authentic, all-American, and genuine, and we can’t wait to see what these two bring to the table. Here’s to Superman: Legacy, Corenswet, and Brosnahan.
