Jamie Foxx is cooking up yet another new project with Netflix. Though the streamer recently cancelled his big return to the sitcom world, Dad, Stop Embarrassing Me!, after just one season, the partnership between Foxx and the company is still going strong as the Project: Power star will next be seen in new horror comedy Day Shift, in which he’ll play an unlikely vampire hunter.
Day Shift will follow Foxx as a hard-working, blue-collar father who just wants to provide a good life for his precocious eight-year-old daughter. But while he has a mundane job as a pool cleaner in the San Fernando Valley by day, by night he goes about a much more lucrative form of employment: killing the undead.
J.J. Perry, most known as a stunt coordinator on the likes of The Fast and the Furious and Bloodshot, is making his directorial debut with this one. Anyone wanting to keep up to date with production should be following his Instagram as Perry has been sharing various bits and pieces from the set. Including this hilarious video of Foxx goofing around in between takes. Decked out in a Hawaiian shirt, Foxx jokingly tries CPR on a dummy with its throat slit. Check it out via the post below:

Just as you’d expect from a movie like this, it looks like everyone’s having a fun time making Day Shift, which promises to be a great ride for audiences too. Foxx, who is also exec producing, leads a strong cast which also includes Dave Franco – appearing in another horror-themed project soon after his directorial debut, The Rental, last year – and Snoop Dogg – who, going by another of Perry’s posts, appears to be playing a Blade-like vampire killer. Natasha Liu Bordizzo (The Society), Steve Howey (Dark) and C.S. Lee (Dexter) are likewise in the cast.
Jamie Foxx will next be seen in his own directorial debut, star-studded sports comedy All-Star Weekend, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, both coming later this year. Day Shift will likely arrive on Netflix in 2022.
