Universal Pictures is beginning to enter crunch time ahead of the much-touted arrival of one Jason Bourne.
In tandem with today’s blistering new TV spot, which features our hardboiled protagonist searching for answers amid a web of lies and deceit, the studio has mapped out plans for a series of featurettes and actor interviews to air in the weeks leading up to the reboot’s release.
[zerg]From July 16 onwards, Universal will stage an eight-network airing of The Bourne Identity. Hosted by Matt Damon, there’s also the promise of exclusive new footage from Paul Greengrass’ franchise revival to coincide with the dose of nostalgia, allowing you to scrub up on your Bourne knowledge all the while getting the skinny on the latest release. USA Network, Syfy, Bravo, E! and Esquire Network are among the channels airing the special, and we expect further details to emerge closer to the time.
Emerging from the shadows and on to the warpath, Matt Damon headlines the blockbuster tentpole as a reinvigorated Jason Bourne, who returns to the fray in order to solve the mysteries of his past. It’s a quest for answers that will see him go up against CIA brass Robert Dewey (played by franchise newcomer Tommy Lee Jones), along with Vincent Cassel’s elusive big bad. Alicia Vikander, Julia Stiles and Riz Ahmed round out the core cast.
Jason Bourne will stage his comeback when Universal’s hard reset lands in theaters on July 29.
