I’m beginning to run out of ways to say ‘so-and-so has joined the cast list for Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel.’ In one of the less surprising announcements about the director’s latest film, The Film Stage confirms that Jeff Goldblum has been added to the cast.

Goldblum himself made the confirmation via a radio interview. He will head to Europe to make Robert Michell’s film Le Weekend, then party with his jazz band (?!), and finally head to Germany in January to begin filming with Anderson. Sounds like it’s good be Jeff.

The actor has already appeared in Anderson’s The Life Aquatic, so he’s no stranger to the ensemble cast. He was also one of an initial group of Anderson regulars – including Willem Dafoe and Adrien Brody – who were rumored for parts in The Grand Budapest Hotel, but remained unconfirmed.

While there’s still no news on the other guys, we can definitely add Jeff Goldblum to the rapidly growing list that already includes Saoirse Ronan, Ralph Fiennes, Jude Law, Angela Lansbury, Owen Wilson and Bill Murray.

There’s yet to be a defined plot synopsis for The Grand Budapest Hotel, but Anderson recently stated that it harkens back to the ‘Hollywood Europe’ of directors like Billy Wilder and Ernst Lubitsch. With Goldblum on board, and the already confirmed cast remarkable in itself, I really can’t wait for this one.

The Grand Budapest Hotel begins filming in January.  As always, we’ll keep any eye on those late-comers to the cast as they join up.
