Jennifer Lawrence Does Not Cameo In Dumb And Dumber To

If you were Jennifer Lawrence, an actress with three Oscar nods, one win, and a major motion picture franchise under her belt (all at the tender age of 25), would you voluntarily appear in a Farrelly Brothers film? I guess it depends on how you feel about the Farrelly Brothers. Lawrence is evidently not impressed, because word on the street is that she decided to nix her own cameo in the upcoming Dumb and Dumber To.

Lawrence is evidently not impressed, because word on the street is that she decided to nix her own cameo in the upcoming Dumb and Dumber To

According to The Hollywood Reporter (via The Playlist), Lawrence filmed a cameo for Dumb and Dumber To last year, with the stipulation that she would have the final say on whether it made the final cut. Prior to the film’s release, she decided she did not want it included in the film and so it was dropped. This is in contrast to claims made by Peter and Bobby Farrelly, who say that the whole cameo story was untrue to begin with. But THR sticks by their guns, and now we have a mini controversy around a rather uncontroversial film.

Does any of this matter? Perhaps not, but if Lawrence did decide to pull out of Dumb and Dumber To, one has to wonder why. Too stupid for her? Not the sort of thing she wants to be associated with? She saw the movie and decided that it was better to keep far, far away?

With Dumb and Dumber To coming to theaters on November 14, we will all have the chance to judge whether or not the Farrellys have overstretched the characters of Harry and Lloyd. It’s been a full decade since the last film came out, and our boys are much older but unlikely to be wiser. Will the public latch onto their adventures once more, or, like Lawrence, ask to be cut out of the film entirely? We’ll just have to wait and see.
