When David O. Russell commits to an actor, it seems like he does it for the long haul, as he’s shown in the past with Mark Wahlberg and presently with Jennifer Lawrence. After the two collaborated in last year’s drama, Silver Linings Playbook, which was critically successful, the director recruited the actress for his upcoming Untitled Abscam project just a few days ago. Now it seems that the director simply can’t get enough because Lawrence is set to star in his next project, The Ends of the Earth.
The Ends of the Earth features the true story of an oil tycoon named Ernest Marland who adopts his niece, Lydie Marland and loses his fortune when he marries her after his brother’s death. Lawrence will be portraying Lydie, a woman known for her good will, as she encouraged her husband to increase his workers’ salaries and ensured that they had health care. The couple remained married until Ernest died in 1941, which drove Lydie to become reclusive.
The Weinstein Company, who distributed Silver Linings Playbook, will also be handling The Ends of the Earth and the script will be penned by Argo’s screenwriter, Chris Terrio. So far only Lawrence has been cast for the project.
But before Russell moves on with the production of The Ends of the Earth, he has to focus on his untitled Abscam film, which features quite the ensemble cast comprised of Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Louis C.K.
It seems Lawrence is going to have a busy schedule, with the upcoming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, X-Men: Days of Future Past and then Russell’s new projects. Nevertheless, we can’t wait to see the twenty two year old actress continue to make her mark on Hollywood.
