Jessica Chastain has signed on to play Princess Diana in a film titled Caught In Flight. The film will be directed by the fantastic Oliver Hirschbiegel who created one of the greatest and most intimate biopics in cinema, Downfall, the story of the end of the life of Adolf Hitler.
Caught In Flight is said to focus on “a secret affair between the late princess and a heart surgeon, Dr. Hasnat Khan, who was said to be the love of her life.” The film is currently being sold at the American Film Market, with pre-production set to get underway in March 2012 under the British production company, Ecosse Films, who are behind films such as Nowhere Boy and Mrs. Brown. Shooting is said to begin in the second half of 2012 after Chastain wraps Joseph Kosinski’s Horizons.
Caught In Flight is set to travel all over the world, shooting in a number of locations including Pakistan, Angola, the South of France and Paris. The script for Caught In Flight has been penned by Steven Jeffreys, the man behind The Libertine.
AFM, who broke the news, stated that “Those who have read the script for Caught in Flight, say that the late Princess is not cast in a particularly favorable light; she is shown as a damaged person who stalks the doctor after he ends the affair.”
Personally, I’m a huge Jessica Chastain fan and have been waiting for a Diana biopic for years and I’m extremely excited to see this one get underway.
Caught In Flight will likely be hitting screens in 2013.
