A few days ago we reported that Andres Muschietti‘s Mama, starring Jessica Chastain, would be released on October 3rd, 2012. However, today we have learnt from Chastain herself that this information is wrong and that we’re going to have to wait a bit longer to see the film.
We spoke to Chastain via her Facebook page and she told us that she checked with the film’s producer and the release date for the film is incorrect. Mama won’t be released until next year, sometime in 2013.
I’ve been looking forward to the film for a while now so it’s a little disappointing that we will have to wait even longer than expected for it. That being said, the actress has a number of other films coming out between now and Mama so it’s not like we’ll be missing her.
Mama is being produced by Guillermo del Toro and will be distributed by Universal. For those unfamiliar with the project, check out the plot summary below.
“Annabel (Chastain) and Lucas (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) are faced with the challenge of raising his young nieces that were left alone in the forest for 5 years…. but how alone were they?”
Mama stars Jessica Chastain and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and will be released in 2013.
