With Star Wars: Episode IX still over a year away from release, Lucasfilm is in no hurry to divulge the details, meaning that much of the cast of J.J. Abrams’ next film is remaining decidedly tight-lipped.
But while John Boyega isn’t ready to spill the beans either, he seems to have at least given us a look behind the project’s ongoing wall of silence, even it is a rather spoiler-free look. In a short Instagram video captioned “Working!”, the Finn actor can be seen on a rotating platform in front of a blue screen, and despite not outright saying that this is a moment from the production of the upcoming trilogy-closer, Boyega surely knew what people would think when he posted it.

One interpretation of this clip is that Finn will be appearing in a holographic message that’s either rotating, or more likely, will be filmed in a rotating shot. That’s just a theory for the time being, but you can imagine that the character will want to keep his Resistance peers informed given all the locations he looks to be visiting.
Earlier this year, for instance, Boyega shared a photo of his trip to Dubai, presumably to shoot scenes in the film’s Wadi Rum desert set. Elsewhere, we’ve seen the actor journeying through the British countryside with Oscar Isaac and Chewbacca, perhaps engaging in the guerrilla warfare teased by Isaac a few months back.
In any case, while a few seconds of soundless footage from the Star Wars: Episode IX set is nice and all, a recent report suggests that we might even be seeing a trailer before the month is out. We’ll know soon enough if there’s any truth to that rumor, but regardless of the material that comes our way in the next couple of weeks, the biggest reveals will presumably be saved for when the film hits theaters on December 20th, 2019.
