According to John Cusack’s latest tweet, he will be playing the classic author, Edgar Allen Poe, in The Raven.
“Officiali- will play edgar allen poe in fall-a-film called the raven, send any poe- gold – my way as i begin this journey into the abyss,” Cusack tweeted.
The movie has been buzzing for a while now, but the title role had been unknown. Previously mentioned for the role were Jeremy Renner and Ewan McGregor.
The film will be directed by James McTiegue, who already has an impressive resume with Ninja Assasin and V for Vendetta.
According to IMDB, it will be a fictionalized account of Poe’s last days, during which the author is in pursuit of a serial killer whose murders mirror Poe’s in his stories. The killer leaves clues behind that only Poe would be able to understand.
Certainly a little meatier role for Cusack, but one that I think he will be able to handle after seeing his performance in 1408.
It is set to start shooting on Oct 25 in Budapest and Serbia, which will serve as a backdrop for 1849 Baltimore.
Here is the actual Poe story, The Raven, as read by Darth Vader.
