ShowBizz411 has announced that John Goodman has joined the cast of Joel and Ethan Coen’s next film, Inside Llewyn Davis. This will mark Goodman sixth collaboration with the Coens..
Though Goodman’s role is not specified, we can presume that with the actor’s status, it will be an important one. The film centres around Llewyn Davis, who is a fictitious character based on Dave van Ronk and his “struggles as a folk musician during the genre’s 1960s heyday in New York City.”
Inside Llewyn Davis also stars Oscar Isaac in the title role and Carey Mulligan, who will play the character of Jean. It has also been reported that Justin Timberlake has been offered the role of Mulligan’s character’s husband.
Goodman has been making a come back of sorts after a few years out of the spotlight, with two films that are gaining large awards momentum: Stephen Daldry‘s Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, and the silent black and white film, The Artist, which was a sensation at Cannes. His involvement in this project is exciting and I’m eager to see what role he takes.
Inside Llewyn Davis stars shooting in February next year and is due for release around late 2012/early 2013.
