Oscar nominee and recent Emmy award winner John Lithgow is the latest addition to Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up spin off/sequel, which is rumoured to be titled This Is Forty.
Rope Of Silicon is reporting that he’ll join a cast which already consists of Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, Megan Fox, and Chris O’Dowd. About a week ago, Melissa McCarthy of Bridesmaids and Ryan Lee of Super 8 were added to the cast as well.
Few details are known about the film, and none are known about Lithgow’s role. It has been confirmed that Rudd and Mann are reprising their roles from Knocked Up, and it’s being said that McCarthy and Lee will play mother and son.
With a potential title of This Is Forty, I have to wonder if this will be something like a mix of Knocked Up and Funny People, both Apatow films. Funny People had a lot of reality and darkness to it, both of which seem implied by a title like This Is Forty.
To me, John Lithgow will always be the omni-terrifying Trinity Killer of Dexter, but I have faith in his incredible talent to be comedic. Personally, I think he was hysterical as the voice of Lord Farquaad in Shrek and of course, he had a great run on 3rd Rock From The Sun.
This Is Forty is set to hit theatres on December 12th, 2012.
Do you think Lithgow is a good choice for the film?
