John Wick has now spent two movies demonstrating that there are few heads on this planet that he isn’t capable of putting a bullet through. All the same, the upcoming John Wick 3: Parabellum could see a pack of ninjas trying their hand at finally ousting the un-retired hitman.
When director Chad Stahelski was asked what to expect from the third installment of this surprisingly successful Keanu Reeves-led series, his answer was one that reads like the tags on the movie’s IMDb page:
“Horses, dogs, cats, a raven, a bunch of pigeons, a motorcycle chase, car chase, Halle Berry, Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, shotguns, and ninjas.”
Much of this list isn’t too surprising, but the filmmaker did save a minor reveal for last. Whether John will be fighting these ninjas or allying with them is unclear for the time being, but they’ll surely make for a worthy inclusion in a saga that seems to be getting bigger and bigger with each new entry.
Also mentioned on this rundown are a few familiar names, with Fishburne, McShane, and Reddick all reprising their roles from the first two movies, along with Ruby Rose and Common. New to the team, however, is Berry, who’ll serve as one more assassin in a series that’s hardly lacking for characters in that occupation.
A couple more entries in Stahelski’s list are crossed off by a recent still, which sees Reeves riding horseback down a New York street while motorcycles follow in pursuit. The animals in Wick’s life have a habit of getting caught in the crossfire, too, so we wish the best of luck to this noble steed.
While it’s not yet clear how this long list of features is going to translate into an actual movie, hopes remain high for John Wick 3: Parabellum, which hits theaters on May 17th, 2019.
