New Joker Photos Put On A Happy Face

Even though Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home are safely in our rearview mirror, there’s still one superhero movie on the horizon, though it might be more accurate to refer to it as a supervillain film. In a little over a month, the standalone Joker from Warner Bros. will be hitting the big screen, and fans can't wait to see a tale that places its focus on the Clown Prince of Crime - after all, Batman is usually the one who takes center stage.

While it’s yet to be screened for critics and the like, a few industry insiders have already had a chance to watch an early cut of the film, and reactions seem positive, with a few going so far as to predict that Joaquin Phoenix will land an Academy Award nomination for his role as the Joker. We’ll probably hear more initial impressions when the movie premieres next week at the 76th Venice International Film Festival, but leading up to the event, Warner Bros. has now released a handful of new stills to ramp up the excitement.

The new images, which were originally shared by Games Radar, don’t show off any action or specific plot points, but instead, give us a glimpse at some of the movie’s main cast. As expected, we get to see Joaquin Phoenix, both decked out in makeup as the Clown Prince of Crime, and as his usual self, Arthur Fleck. Another image, meanwhile, shows off Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond, an original character who seems to serve as a love interest or friend to the titular villain.

While we won’t be able to catch its premiere next week in Venice, we’re still terribly excited to watch Joker on the big screen when it hits theaters on October 4th. If early impressions and the trailers are anything to go by, we’re in for a real treat.
