“Life…finds a way.” To commemorate Easter Sunday, Jurassic World 2 director Juan Antonio Bayona shared a very different kind of egg – think prehistoric, not chocolate.

Posted to Twitter, the picture harkens back to a classic (read: Steven Spielberg’s 1993 classic) in that it features more than half a dozen eggs resting in a cutting-edge incubator. It’s impossible to determine the nature of the dino eggs based on this photo alone, but judging by their size, they do appear awfully similar to those Velociraptor eggs that cropped up in the original Jurassic Park, leading to Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm uttering the famous line: “Life…finds a way.”

The technology within Universal’s blockbuster franchise has come an awful long way since – and we’re not just referring to the CGI on display. As evidenced in Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World, a franchise revival that reached $1.6 billion at the international box office, genetically modified dinosaurs is no longer a far-flung concept, and the Indominus Rex stands as living proof of humanity’s relentless desire to engineer species of their own. It came at a cost, though, after anarchy broke out on Isla Nublar – “we have an asset out of containment!” – leading to a truly spectacular showdown between the Indominus and a Tyrannosaur Rex. The old guard versus the new, as it were.

That theme of modified dinos will play into the story of Jurassic World 2 but beyond that, Universal and Bayona have been keeping a lid on things. Filming is now underway, so at the very least, fans can look forward to a steady stream of teasing photos trickling in from the director’s Twitter feed, like so:

Universal has earmarked Jurassic World 2 for release on June 22nd, 2018, when Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, Daniella Pineda James Cromwell, Geraldine Chaplin, Ted Levine and BD Wong will round out the sequel’s impressive ensemble.
