Universal has dialed the terror up to 11 with this frightful new promo for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
And though it may contain a lot of the same footage featured in the sequel’s Super Bowl stinger, up above you’ll find a sliver of fresh content for the Juan Antonio Bayona blockbuster, and it seems a new genetically modified hybrid is on the loose.
Said to be much smarter (and more deadly!) than the super-sized Indominus Rex, Fallen Kingdom‘s man-made abomination will likely be the central antagonist of Universal’s tentpole, as Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) race against the clock in order to shepherd most, if not all of the dinosaurs off Isla Nublar before it’s too late.
And while some believed that the studio had shown too much, too soon with their initial teaser for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the Isla Nublar sequence will reportedly unfold within the first half-hour of Bayona’s follow-up, before the action shifts to that aforementioned hybrid.
Set some several years after Colin Trevorrow’s franchise revival, Fallen Kingdom kicks things off with just that – a kingdom at risk from a volcanic eruption:
The sequel — set several years after 2015’s billion-dollar smash Jurassic World — concerns a volcano on Isla Nublar that threatens the dinosaurs that had overrun the park at the end of the previous film. Who has the best shot at preventing the prehistoric beasts from becoming extinct (again)? That would be Chris Pratt’s dino trainer Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard’s former park manager, Claire Dearing.
Also starring Toby Jones, B.D. Wong, James Cromwell and the great Jeff Goldblum as whip-smart mathematician Ian Malcolm, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will see a release on June 22nd.
