Jurassic World’s Dino Hybrid Is A Force To Be Reckoned With

One of the key reasons as to why the first trailer for Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World proved to be so effective is the fact that the genetically-modified dinosaur proved to be rather camera shy. Much like Steven Spielberg's approach with Jaws, the park's main attraction has been kept in the dark, though today we've learned more about the deadly hybrid, which is now known as the Indominus Rex -- the "Fierce or Untameable King."

One of the key reasons as to why the first trailer for Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World proved to be so effective is the fact that the genetically-modified dinosaur turned out to be rather camera shy. Much like Steven Spielberg’s approach with Jaws, the park’s main attraction has been kept in the dark, though today we’ve learned more about the deadly hybrid, which is now known as the Indominus Rex — the “Fierce or Untameable King.”

Bigger, louder and with more teeth, the 40-foot-long predator is, for all intents and purposes, a force to be reckoned with. And to ramp up excitement for its summer tentpole, Universal released a detailed description of the dino via Jurassic World‘s official site.

We set out to make Indominus the most fearsome dinosaur ever to be displayed at Jurassic World. The genetic engineers at our Hammond Creation Lab have more than delivered. At first glance, Indominus most closely resembles a T. Rex. But its distinctive head ornamentation and ultra-tough bony osteoderms can be traced from Theropods known as Abeliosaurs. Indominus’ horns have been placed above the eye orbit through genetic material hybridized from Carnotaurus, Majungasaurus, Rugops and Giganotosaurus. Fearsome indeed.

Indominus’ roar is estimated to reach 140-160db—the same as a 747 taking off and landing. And it can reach speeds of 30 mph…while confined to its enclosure. Come experience Indominus Rex for yourself beginning this summer. If you dare.

Despite Hammon Creation Lab’s marvelling at their custom monstrosity, as Chris Pratt’s Owen whispers in the trailer, such an experiment was “probably not a good idea.”

Jurassic World and its main attraction will roar into theaters on June 12. Will we see a full reveal of the Indominus Rex during Sunday’s Super Bowl? Stay tuned to We Got This Covered as we’ll have a full report on the footage as it appears.
