Say what you will about Zack Snyder, but the man knows how to line the fabric of his superhero tentpoles with Easter eggs and other crowd-pleasing references to DC Comics.
From Parademons to that scorched Omega symbol (read: Darkseid), Batman V Superman was loaded with numerous Easter eggs – some overt; others subtle – and it seems Justice League is no different. In light of this morning’s all-too-brief promo, which was designed to signal the beginning of Wonder Woman and Cyborg week, The Flite Cast has spotted a special cameo from none other than Marc McClure.
If that name rings a bell, it should; McClure originally portrayed Jimmy Olsen in the original four Christopher Reeve Superman movies, not to mention the Supergirl of 1984. He’s since traded his press badge for a role in the local police force, as this screenshot places McClure’s character in Metropolis, where he will seemingly bear witness to Cyborg (Ray Fisher) entering the fray.
Pretty neat, huh? It’s a gesture of goodwill to the impassioned DC fanbase, and we can’t wait to see what other surprises Justice League has in store. And that’s before you even factor in the two post-credits scenes.
Emerging from a somewhat troubled spell in production, Warner’s mega-movie admittedly faces an uphill battle if it’s to really emulate the success of Wonder Woman – $821 million worldwide, coupled with scores of glowing reviews – but we’re inclined to give Justice League the benefit of the doubt…for now.
Said to span 121 minutes in length, the Zack Snyder’s DC blockbuster is set to hit theaters across the globe on November 17th. Word is Lex Luthor and Darkseid will both make appearances, while it’s understood that Commissioner Gordon has been reduced to a bit-part.
