In just a couple of days, the moment many of us have been waiting our entire lives for will finally arrive when the Justice League movie debuts in cinemas. Uniting the likes of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman and the Flash for the first time on the big screen, it comes as a surprise to none why anticipation levels are so high – and why there are those who can’t help but compile their wishlists for a potential sequel, the cast included.
So, naturally, industry analysts are making their projections regarding how much dough the blockbuster will rake in across the globe over the course of this weekend. What’s interesting to note is that some huge numbers are expected to be posted, Rotten Tomatoes’ aggregate score be damned. In fact, Deadline boldly states that Justice League stands to gross $325M-$355 million worldwide and, to be honest, we can see that panning out. Of course, there’s a margin of error when you consider that movies of this nature often surpass financial expectations, but that sounds about right.
In case you were wondering how the Zack Snyder-helmed flick will stack up against other heavy hitters in the genre, it’s likely to best Suicide Squad ($267M) and Deadpool ($264.7M), but fall short of Iron Man 3 ($372.5M). All things considered, that’d still be something to applaud.
Still, we can’t help but think about what the final take will be and, despite so much venom being spewed at Rotten Tomatoes, that aggregate score does count for something when it comes to public opinion. But to be frank, the influence of what your friends have to say on your social media feed may end up being the biggest intangible of all, because word of mouth counts for a whole heck of a lot these days.
That being said, this could either sink after a couple weeks much like Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, or flourish for months to come just as Wonder Woman did. Let’s hope it’s the latter.
Justice League opens in theaters on November 17.
