At this point, Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League has become the stuff of legend. Ever since the DC tentpole stormed into theaters back in November, there’s been a fierce debate over whether such a thing actually exists or not. For every “insider” or crew member that says it’s out there, another one says the opposite. With Warner Bros. refusing to comment on the matter, fans are left hopelessly on their own, trying to figure out what to believe.
And while that is still very much the case, another one of the film’s crew members has now come forward to convince us that yes, a cut belonging to Snyder currently resides in the WB vaults somewhere, and he’s hoping that one day, the studio will release it.
Coming to us by way of Reddit, we advise taking this latest report with a grain of salt, but for those who are interested, here’s what stuntman Richard Cetrone has to say:
Please pass along to your group my thanks for their passion in supporting Zack. Tell them I know for a fact that a Zack Snyder cut does exist and with the help of people like you and your group we can hopefully persuade WB to release it. Thanks again.
Now, even if Cetrone is correct, a couple of things still stand in the way of us seeing Snyder’s work. Firstly, Warner Bros. would have to plow more money into the movie, and given that it might not even turn a profit when all’s said and done, that’s a big ask for them. Secondly, and to my mind more seriously, the studio would have to admit that they really screwed up the post-production on Justice League and frankly, I don’t see the executives’ egos allowing that.
That’s not to say we won’t ever get any additional footage from the film, though. After all, a new Amazon listing points to an extended cut hitting Blu-ray in March. The only catch is, it won’t be a Zack Snyder Director’s Cut. Instead, it’s more likely just the theatrical version with a few of Whedon’s deleted scenes thrown back in.
Still, we’ll take what we can get at this point and try to hang onto the hope that one day, somewhere down the road, someone at Warner Bros. will come to their senses and allow us to see Snyder’s original vision for Justice League.
