The new Justice League trailer will finally be with us tomorrow, but in the meantime, we’ve been able to enjoy a series of teasers for each of the titular heroes. However, conspicuous by his absence from the bite-sized promos – and that team poster – was Henry Cavill’s Superman. While the Man of Steel was front and centre in the Comic-Con poster that we got last summer, he was absent from the trailer shown during the event and has been nowhere to be seen ever since.
Why? Well, it could have something to do with the fact that he died at the end of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. The closing seconds of that movie teased some sort of resurrection and we’ve known for ages now that he will indeed be back, but Warner Bros. has kept his eventual return a closely guarded secret. As a result, we have no idea what to expect from Superman in Justice League or how much screen time he’ll receive. It is, of course, possible that director Zack Snyder will save his return for the final act, though for all we know, he could also start off as a villain under the control of Steppenwolf, or perhaps something even more outlandish!
Time will tell, but in the meantime, one fan has created a very funny parody video which teases the Man of Steel’s role in Justice League. As you can see above, it consists solely of the hero lying in his grave. It’s hilariously bleak, but a fair point considering that Superman is currently dead and gone in the DC Extended Universe. Give it a watch for yourself and be sure to return tomorrow when we’ll have that brand new trailer for you.
