Variety is reporting that Justin Timberlake has been offered a starring role in the Coen Brothers’ next film, Inside Llewyn Davis, which already has two stars attached, Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan.
If Timberlake accepts the role, he will be playing the part of Jim, who is a folk musician married to Mulligan’s character, Jean. The film explores the life of Llewyn Davis, who is a fictitious character based on Dave van Ronk and his “struggles as a folk musician during the genre’s 1960s heyday in New York City.”
Hopefully Timberlake will accept the role, and it’s hard to find any reason why he wouldn’t. It’s no secret he has been very successful in the music industry and so far his transition in to the world of cinema has been surprisingly well received, as of late. He was met with fantastic reviews for his performance in David Fincher‘s The Social Network and so far has done well in other films like Friends With Benefits. All things considered, I think he’d do well in a Coen Brothers film.
Inside Llewyn Davis is set to begin filming in January for a late 2012 release.
