Rosario Dawson’s role in the small-screen Marvel universe may span far beyond the streets of Hell’s Kitchen, but that hasn’t precluded the actress from appearing in more feature films, too, with The Hollywood Reporter today bringing word that Dawson has boarded Warner Bros.’ thriller, Unforgettable. She’ll be joined there by Katherine Heigl, according to Variety, with both actresses uniting for Denise Di Novi’s picture.
Acting as Di Novi’s directorial debut, the casting coup is a significant step in the right direction for the property, which suffered the loss of Amma Asante when the Belle helmer left the project earlier this year.
Based on a script from Christina Hodson and David Leslie Johnson, Unforgettable centers around a woman (Dawson) who finds her attempts at assimilating into a family life with her new husband and step daughter tormented by the dreaded ex-wife (Heigl). It reads like an unashamed suburban thriller, particularly when you consider that Heigl’s character is described as mentally unstable. Sounds like there’s an awful lot of secrets hiding behind Dawson’s newfound white picket fence.
After starring opposite Chris Rock in Top Five, Rosario Dawson will reprise her role as Claire Temple in Marvel’s Daredevil season 2, which is currently filming. Heigl, on the other hand, has been absent from the Hollywood scene after departing Grey’s Anatomy in 2010, with her last role arriving alongside Tom Wilkinson for Jenny’s Wedding.
With shooting set to begin in Los Angeles on August 17, we can expect Denise DiNovi’s Unforgettable to be a small budget water-tight thriller, and with Dawson and Heigl now attached, we’re excited to see how the feature film pans out.
