Warner Brothers’ Suicide Squad film doesn’t begin production until April, but director David Ayer is already working hard to assemble an impressive cast who’ll take on the roles of supervillains-turned-mercenaries. Margot Robbie is all but confirmed to play fan-favorite Harley Quinn, Jared Leto is reportedly up for the role of the Joker, and Will Smith, Tom Hardy and Jai Courtney are all in various stages of negotiations for parts in the film as well. Now, we’ve got another buzz-worthy name to add to that list.
You can’t have Suicide Squad without Amanda Waller, the head of A.R.G.U.S. (DC’s version of S.H.I.E.L.D.) who brings the Squad together, and is able bend super-powered heroes and villains to her will without the luxury of powers of her own. She’s just that badass. Luckily, Ayer seems to be aware of that, and may have found an actress to take on the important role.
A new, unconfirmed rumor has sprung up placing Scandal and Django Unchained actress Kerry Washington at the top of the list to play Waller, and cites that that she may currently be in talks for the role. I must note that while the rumor should be taken with a massive grain of salt, at least until we hear it from a more reliable source, the idea itself is highly intriguing.
