Trying to make people forget that she’s the star of the dreadful Twilight series, actress Kristen Stewart is taking on more and more non-vampire related roles, the newest of which is a lead role that pits her opposite Ben Affleck. Of course, we’re talking about the film Focus, which is coming to us from Crazy, Stupid, Love directors John Requa and Glen Ficarra.
According to Variety, Focus centers on a “veteran con man (Affleck) who gets involved with a newcomer (Stewart) to the grifter business. They get involved romantically but that becomes perilous in a business where they lie and cheat for a living. The complications of the encounter haunt them when they meet up again in the future.”
If you recall, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling were once set for the two leads roles, though that obviously didn’t work out. And that’s unfortunate because I don’t care much for either Affleck or Stewart. Actually, let me correct that, I don’t care much for Affleck as an actor. As a director, yes, I love his work. As an actor, not so much.
Kristen Stewart though, I can care less for. I still don’t know how she gets so many roles or why she’s such a big star. She’s terrible to watch on screen and I just cannot see the talent in her.
Focus was sounding alright with Stone and Gosling in the front seat but now that they’ve been swapped out for a far less exciting duo, I can’t say I’m terribly excited for this one.
What do you think? Looking forward to seeing Kristen Stewart in Focus?
