It has been revealed by producer Peter Aalbæk Jensen that Lars von Trier‘s new film Nymphomaniac will actually be divided into two films.

Speaking to Screen Daily, Jansen said:

“We are making two films. It is a big operation. I personally hope that we should be ready for Cannes next year. We will shoot both and edit both – and we want to finish both at the same time.”

Von Trier had previously spoke about the film describing it as a “porno” and because of that, two cuts of the film will be made. Jansen elaborated on this to explain how they plan to make the softer cuts of the two films:

“We will probably blur the central points of the human body for the release worldwide but we will probably make one unblurred that will be for screening maybe in Cannes.”

For those not familiar with the film, Nymphomaniac follows “Joe, a 50-year-old woman discovered by an older man, Seligman, to whom she tells her life story over the course of eight chapters.”

Though both Charlotte Gainsbourg and Stellan Skarsgård have both confirmed and Willem Dafoe has stated he has been offered a part in the films, Janson wouldn’t comment on any of the casting.

Both Nymphomaniac films will begin shooting in Germany this Summer, with a Cannes 2013 premiere in eye.
