Its all coming up The Flash today in the latest DC news. After the movie’s first screening yesterday the comments are rolling in and — in a turn of events that will have fans letting out a deep sigh of relief — it sounds like The Flash really has delivered. Between a warm welcome for Michael Keaton’s Batman — and a sad farewell to Ben Affleck’s — it’s a wonder fans had time to digest how incredible Sasha Calle was as Supergirl. Despite the exuberant reaction to The Flash, it just wouldn’t be DC news if Fans of James Gunn and Zack Snyder weren’t feuding, so naturally we have some Snyder bros backlash to the blockbuster already. Speaking of the two directors, we have a brief trip down memory lane talking about the unlikely piece the pair collaborated on almost two decades ago.
James Gunn and Zack Snyder make an excellent team
Nearly two decades ago, James Gunn and Zack Snyder collaborated on one of the best zombie movies of all time. Gunn wrote the script and Zack Snyder directed the now classic undead offering, Dawn of the Dead. While taking in all the gory sights, the movie offers you would never even know that the two directors would later face off over the DCU and create one of the deepest divides in fandom history. But nearly two decades later the movie still holds up and proves that together the two could have made one heck of a partnership.
Supergirl swoops in to… steal the show?
Fans couldn’t be more hyped for Sasha Calle’s debut as Supergirl. After the movie premiered at CinemaCon fans were quick to sing her praises. It seemed like viewers couldn’t decide if they were more impressed by her acting or how believable her fight scenes were. One thing was for certain, plenty of those who watched the film were singing The Flash’s praises almost as loud as James Gunn.
The Flash both underwhelms and overwhelms with Batman’s presence
Michael Keaton’s Batman has been one of the most talked about superhero comebacks of all time. It’s easy to throw that one around, as there are very few actors who have gotten the chance to reprise such an iconic role. The first responses to The Flash have been quick to laude Keaton’s return, even if his tenure was all too short. Fans will just have to wait and see if Tim Burton’s Bat gets his chance to shine in a follow-up with The Flash director remaining tightlipped about his plans for the character even as fans beg for more.
On the flipside, it seems that the latest trailer for the movie has some fans finally realizing the impact of Ben Affleck’s final performance as Batman. The actor is set to briefly reprise his role one last time before hanging up his cowl for good, and Snyderverse fans are desperate to keep him around. It’s not just for Affleck’s impressive acting chops that fans long for him to stay, but it really seems as though some have tied the fate of the Snyderverse to his continued participation in the DCEU. He’s said in no uncertain terms, several times now that he has no desire to return, so hopefully Snyder fans can rally behind him one last time and give Batfleck the send off he deserves.
One Key moment from the Flashpoint comic is missing from The Flash and fans are super confused
Minor spoiler alert ahead
With only months to go before The Flash’s release, fans are left wondering just how the film intends to wrap up its storyline. The Flashpoint comic features longtime Flash nemesis Reverse-Flash as the primary antagonist and the first reactions from the CinamaCon screening have fully dashed fan expectation around the character’s debut. Its been a poorly kept secret that Ezra Miller would be playing both the hero and the villain of their solo film, but just incase there is any lingering doubt as to what the movie has in store, fans will just have to wait for it to hit theatres in June.
