Television has been on the rise for years, as creatives gradually come to accept the broad storytelling potential of the episodic format.

Thanks to massive successes like Game of Thrones, paired with the COVID-19 pandemic, people are more and more drawn to stories that play out on their TVs, rather than the big screen. This appears to be the motivation behind the quick shift from film to television, as longtime favorites like Harry Potter and Twilight plan to re-approach their stories via television series, rather than theatrical releases.

Not everyone finds the move necessary, of course, but news that two persistently-popular franchises are already set for a reboot got fantasy fans talking about another that could actually use a second attempt. Harry Potter and Twilight really don’t need fresh adaptations, but what about The Chronicles of Narnia? The existing film franchise was largely considered a flop, and it could genuinely use a fresh attempt to bring its story to the screen.

Peter Pan has had far more success over the years, but that isn’t leeching fan excitement from the upcoming Peter Pan & Wendy. The film looks like a delightful reimagining of the epic story, and Ever Anderson’s return to the big screen is already turning heads. If the young Wendy actress looks familiar, there’s good reason, and it all comes back to her famous parents.

Fans are already torn on whether or not a Harry Potter reboot is at all necessary, less than 15 years after the original movies concluded. Regardless of their thoughts, Max is going ahead with a fresh series, dedicating a full season to each of J.K. Rowling’s books. It seems Twilight is headed down the same path, with reports emerging that the popular vampire series is set to get a similarly-styled television adaptation. Considering the broad popularity of the first round of adaptations, it’s hardly surprising, but come on – do we really need more sparkly vampires?

Why not add Chronicles of Narnia to the list?

A far less successful attempt at adaptation has yet to get its own televised announcement, but fans would far prefer to see Chronicles of Narnia get a second attempt at success, rather than rehash already-popular franchises. Only three of C. S. Lewis’ seven novels ever made it to the big screen, but if you’re keen to watch, we’ve got a breakdown of how to enjoy them all in proper order.

A fresh upcoming take on the story of Peter Pan is already garnering major attention, and the stars of Peter Pan & Wendy may be on the verge of their big breaks. The actress playing Wendy, in particular, is catching people’s eye, and it’s likely due to her stark similarities to her parents. Ever Anderson comes from a star-studded family, and once you know her parents’ names you’ll find them written across the 15-year-old actress’s features.
