The Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division was essentially dismantled soon after Captain America: The Winter Soldier three years ago, while Nick Fury hasn’t been involved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Age of Ultron.

That all changes with the release of Captain Marvel in 2019 though, when Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s spinoff will seemingly set Jackson opposite Brie Larson, and effectively complete their mini Skull Island reunion. And after that? Well, rumors of SLJ’s involvement in Avengers 4 continue to simmer, and this new batch of set photos only add fuel to the fire. First unearthed by Cosmic Book News, one tweet mentions that “S.H.I.E.L.D. agents” have been spotted in Atlanta.

While certainly exciting, there are no agents to be found here – S.H.I.E.L.D. or otherwise – so perhaps they’re just out of shot? What we do know is that Joe and Anthony Russo are in the midst of filming a sizeable action scene, with emergency service vehicles scattered across the streets.

It’s difficult to gauge the context of this sequence based on a few still photos, but it could link back to the one that allegedly unveiled a long-haired Thor. Assuming Avengers 4 bucks tradition and incorporates flashback scenes, that also leaves the door open for Nick Fury – and, by effect, S.H.I.E.L.D. – to reappear. If true, there’s also a good chance Peggy Carter will be drafted back to the fold, too.

Once titled Infinity War – Part 2, Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers 4 will see a release on May 3rd, 2019. Closer to home, and following Ragnarok and Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, a film of “infinite proportions,” is primed to launch in May of 2018.
