Come on and slam!
Well Space Jam fans, here’s your first glimpse at the long-awaited sequel, Space Jam 2 and its star, LeBron James, courtesy of TMZ. Though from the looks of it, there’s no sign of Bugs Bunny anywhere.
The new series of photos reveal production at a basketball court where an All-Star game between NBA and WNBA players seems to be taking place. Among the many athletes in attendance was Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Klay Thompson, who showed up in crutches after suffering a torn ACL in the finals against the Toronto Raptors.
You can check out some of the photos for yourself below:
An interesting thing you might’ve noticed is that LeBron’s wearing the number 6 on his jersey here instead of his trademark 23. The only other time the King wore 6 was during a championship stint on the Miami Heat. But given the fact that he’s announced new teammate Anthony Davis will be wearing 23 when he joins the Lakers next season, we may be seeing James switching things up.
As for the plot, we don’t really have any details at this time, but we can assume that it’ll take on the same basic outline of its 23-year-old predecessor, with a man/toon collaboration out on the court.
So far though, there hasn’t been a whole lot of love for the long-awaited sequel. Joe Pytka, who was at the helm of the Michael Jordan film all those years ago, has said that the project’s doomed from the start, and the OG 23, Jordan himself, has revealed that he thinks Blake Griffin would’ve been the better lead.
But we want to know, do you agree with them? And are you excited to see LeBron take to the court with Bugs, Daffy and friends in 2021? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
