As we inch closer and closer to the release of Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, more and more rumors regarding the plot are beginning to trickle out. Granted, not a whole lot has really been confirmed as of yet, but speculation is running rampant across the four corners of the web and today, even more tidbits are rearing their head. This time, the characters involved are Supreme Leader Snoke and Leia, among others, and it sounds like they may be having a bit of a showdown – minor spoilers to follow.
Like most of these rumors, this one hails from Reddit and has started to gain a bit of traction over the past few days. According to the post, General Leia will be captured by Captain Phasma and taken to the Star Destroyer, which we know houses Snoke. Further detailing the scene in question, the Reddit user goes on to note the following:
“Phasma presents her to Snoke. Snoke and Leia trade barbs and Snoke is angry by the mention of Luke returning by the end of the conversation. He has Leia thrown in a holding cell. He then brings up Hux on a hologram and tells him to inform Kylo Ren they have his mother.”
Apparently, the above events take place during the first act of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and the rest of the post outlines a few other scenes that we’ll be treated to, including this little bit about Luke and Rey:
Luke and Rey return to the hut and Rey insists Luke rejoin the fight. Luke states his days of fighting are over and the practice of Jedi fighting wars has ended. Rey becomes even more upset when Luke begins talking to the birds again, this time seemingly in an argument. Luke declares almost angrily that he will train Rey… if she can pass a test.
Intriguing, right? As with all rumors concerning the hugely anticipated release, we’d caution taking all this with the usual grain of salt. After all, Disney’s been keeping an unbelievably tight tight lid on the film – even the first teaser trailer gave us nothing substantial in regards to the plot – and as of now, we still have very little idea of what to expect from the next chapter of the saga.
If one thing’s for certain, though, it’s that Star Wars: The Last Jedi is shaping up to be another thrilling, magical and gripping journey to that galaxy far, far away and we can’t wait to see what Disney and Lucasfilm have come up with for Episode VIII.
