Now this is exciting news. Anytime Leonardo DiCaprio is circling a project it’s worth your attention. He’s arguably the number one actor in the world right now and his career to date is beyond impressive.
Today, the L.A. Times is reporting that the world’s top movie star may have found his next project. DiCaprio is looking at Todd Field‘s Creed Of Violence. The film is a “Western-ish project is based off Boston Teran’s novel and takes place in Mexico 1910, during the Mexican Revolution and focuses on the American intervention in the war.”
You may remember Field from the excellent Little Children, although he hasn’t really done anything since. The project is currently at Universal and apparently Field is still working on developing it. Now that it has DiCaprio’s attention, expect it to gain traction. The actor has been offered the lead role and although he hasn’t accepted, sources say he’s considering it.
The film follows “a criminal named Rawbone who tries to take a cache of weapons into Mexico as part of the country’s revolution but is caught and then accompanied by a government agent who, it turns out, shares a secret past with him.” DiCaprio could play either role and there is no word on which side he is leaning towards.
Obviously this is pretty big. A teaming up of Todd Field and Leonardo DiCaprio would likely result in Oscar related material, I have no doubt about it. The premise sounds very intriguing and with these two talented individuals involved, this project could turn into something really special.
