Warner Bros. and Appian Way (Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company), have picked up the rights to author Jo Nesbø’s upcoming novel Blood On The Snow, which is set to be published this Spring. According to Variety, the actor is set to produce and likely star in the film, which would be the first in a two-part series.
Blood On The Snow, and its planned sequel, More Blood In The Water, follow a hitman who “is given a mission by his boss to kill his wife, but he soon falls in love with her.” Sounds a bit generic but there’s probably a lot more at play here than what the logline reveals.
The best-selling Norwegian author, who will write both novels under his pen name Tom Johansson, is becoming a hot commodity in Hollywood these days. He’s responsible for Headhunters, which was adapted into a well-received film recently and is now getting a US remake, as well as The Snowman, which Universal is trying to find a director for. With Blood On The Snow now in the hands of DiCaprio and WB, I would expect it to head intro production pretty soon to capitalize on the author’s recent boost in popularity.
Unfortunately, we don’t have anymore news on this one just yet as it’s still early days but we’ll be sure to keep you posted when we hear more about Blood On The Snow and what Leonardo DiCaprio and Warner Bros. plan to do with it.
