To say that former CIA operative Bryan Mills has been through the ringer is a bit of an understatement. One of the most relentlessly harangued characters in recent years, he’s suffered the kidnapping of his daughter followed by the similar snatching of his wife. In his third – and likely final – outing, the poor chap is keyed up for one last perilous adventure in Taken 3.
In the closing chapter of the action trilogy, director Olivier Megaton is back to guide Liam Neeson as he struggles to reclaim the final element taken from him – his freedom! Following on from the second flick, Mills is overcome with grief after his wife’s murder only to find that the tragedy has been pinned on him. Yes, it’s all rather serious, which is possibly the reason behind Fox’s tongue-in-cheek marketing exploits over the last few months.
As the film’s cinematic release approaches, there’s a new clip of Mills gearing up for battle in a hidden weapons armoury, a detailed featurette on his past, and best of all, a music video. The first preview delves briefly into a phone call between the main man and an old friend, and the featurette serves as a decent refresher of the past two entries in the franchise. But really, it’s all about the very witty music video.
You can check out all three below and let us know what you think. If you like what you see, and want to see Mills display his particular set of skills for one last time then you haven’t got long to wait. Taken 3 opens in theatres on January 9th, 2015.
Liam Neeson returns as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills, whose reconciliation with his ex-wife is tragically cut short when she is brutally murdered. Consumed with rage, and framed for the crime, he goes on the run to evade the relentless pursuit of the CIA, FBI and the police. For one last time, Mills must use his “particular set of skills,” to track down the real killers, exact his unique brand of justice, and protect the only thing that matters to him now – his daughter.
