“I’m going to finish this,” grumbles Bryan Mills in the recently-released trailer for Taken 3 (or Tak3n, as it’s currently being marketed). Liam Nesson’s weathered protagonist has fought off waves and waves of Albanian henchman, travelled half-way around the world to save his daughter — literally — and just when you thought he was out in the clear and ready for a well-deserved beer, he’s back for one more job. No, really, this is the last job.
Reuniting with Maggie Grace and Famke Jenssen, the threequel will see Nesson’s character forced to go on the run after he is framed for murder. With no one to trust but himself, he must ensure the safety of his daughter all the while avoiding Forest Whitaker’s lawful enforcer, who makes it his bidding to hunt down and bring in the ex-CIA agent.
While Taken 3 was considered a far-flung notion back in 2012 after the release of the follow-up — in fact, Neeson himself ruled out the possibility altogether — the threequel has indeed been billed as the conclusion of the high-octane, neck-snapping series, meaning the 62-year old can finally hang up the battered leather jacket for good.
The third instalment in the franchise will once again be directed by Olivier Megaton, with Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen on script duties.
Taken 3 will release first across the UK on January 8th, 2015, before arriving in North America the following day, January 9th. In the meantime, be sure to check out the above footage for the trilogy-capper, and tell us your early impressions in the comments below.
