The last film in The Twilight Saga hasn’t even been released yet but rumors have already begun to circulate about a possible reboot of the series.
According to reports, Lionsgate, who recently merged with Summit Entertainment and gained mainstream success with The Hunger Games, is planning to extend Twilight‘s stay in the limelight.
Although the idea of remaking the first movie in the Twilight series has some appeal to fans that were less than thrilled with the production value, let’s face it, this could wait a few more years. There has been talk for some time about a possible spin-off to the series since the release of Stephenie Meyer‘s The Short Life of Bree Tanner – a novela written like it was meant for the big screen – but nothing has been confirmed.
Of course, there’s always the option of exploring what happens after the books end too.
I can’t imagine Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, or Taylor Lautner signing on for another round at this point as all three seem determined to craft their own post-Twilight careers. In fact, it’s almost a sure thing that if the series was to be rebooted, all of the characters would be recast. Though if they just decide to somehow extend the series, by exploring what happens after the books end, our famous trio may be tempted back for another go at it.
