The cast for David Ayer’s Fury just keeps getting better. After snagging Brad Pitt for the lead role, and giving him Shia LaBeouf has a co-star, we’re now hearing that Logan Lerman has signed on in the role of Norman Ellison, “a typist who is also the youngest and most inexperienced member of the crew, thrust into being the gunner.”

If you haven’t been keeping up, the film is a war drama that follows an American Sherman tank called Fury as the group heads into battle during the last days of World War II. Now that Lerman, Pitt and LaBeouf all on board, there’s at least two more significant roles to be filled in order to round out the tank crew. With shooting set to start this Fall, you should hear more on casting in the near future.

Firstly, Fury sounds fantastic. I was blown away by Ayer’s last film, End of Watch. It was a riveting and absolutely gripping cop drama that really impressed me. When I heard that the director had brought Pitt on board for this one, my excitement levels went through the roof. As it is, the film sounds pretty awesome, with Ayer promising to “bring tank combat to life in a way that lands with a modern audience.” Plus, seeing Brad Pitt in another role that has him dispatching Nazis will no doubt be a treat.

Now that LaBeouf and Lerman have joined, things are looking even better. When he’s not off being a complete goof, LaBeouf is actually a solid actor. I really enjoyed him in The Company You Keep and I’m looking forward to seeing him in more mature roles. As for Lerman, I fell in love with him after The Perks of Being A Wallflower and he’s sprung up pretty high on my list of young actors to watch out for.
